Asya Kozina (born in 1984) — artist, sculptor, designer. She works in a unique author's technique of paper sculpture and paper relief.
She was born in the Dnipropetrovsk region. From early childhood, she felt drawn to art, which led her to the Cherkasy Children's Art School, which she graduated from in 1999. She later continued her studies at Khmelnytskyi National University, where she earned a master's degree in the Faculty of Fine and Decorative Arts. Her talent was recognised with a scholarship from the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, as well as a victory in the International Competition "Ukrainian Art Week".
Since 2020, the artist has been living and working in Cherkasy. Her works have been presented at numerous international exhibitions, including in Venice, Paris, Germany, and Italy. In 2019, she created costumes for the Dolce & Gabbana fashion house as part of the Alta Moda project. Asya Kozina is also the founder of the private children's art studio Gloria and an online art school that works with children from different countries. She organises creative competitions and exhibitions and develops the local art community.
Asya creates impressive paper sculptures that go far beyond the traditional perception of this material. For her, white paper is not just a base, but a conceptual tool, a symbol of purity, historical memory and form. Her works are inspired by the cultural heritage of Mongolian warriors, African tribes, Scythian ornaments, Venetian Baroque and other historical eras. At the same time, these images are not literal copies — they are transformed into a metaphorical form that reflects contemporary emotions, identity, and challenges. Asya believes that the colour white allows the viewer to focus on the essence without being distracted by secondary details, and that each form she creates is unique and cannot be replicated. In this, she sees a contrast to mass digital culture and the rapid reproduction of images.
Asi Kozina's works are not just works of art, but visual narratives that capture the memory of generations and reveal new meanings in familiar cultural forms. They speak of identity, form and space, past and present — in a language that cannot be confused with anything else.
At the Lviv Quadrennial of Scenography 2025 Asya Kozina presented the costume "Metamorphosis".
