School Curator: artist Natalia Rydvanetska
School theme: historical costume, its stylisation and interpretation; costume as a component of scenography (Participants selected through open call)
Autumn School: Day 1
On the first day, artist Natalia Rydvanetska gave two lectures on historical costume. Using examples from her own work — sketches and photographs of costumes in performances — she shared her experience of collaborating with various literary texts, directors and theatres.
The lecturer talked about the advantages and disadvantages of using different fabrics, the peculiarities of cutting, working with workshops, set designers and actors, as well as the practical nuances of implementing an idea in a stage costume.
Autumn School: Day 2
The next day, Natalia Rydvanetska continued the theme of costume with two more lectures. She presented one of her iconic works on a mannequin — the costume of the Black Bird from the dance performance Kobzar's Birds (director Svitlana Kotsyubinska, choreographer Yevhen Kotsyubinsky) from the dance performance Kobzar's Birds (directed by Svitlana Oleksiuk).
The meeting turned into a lively dialogue: participants actively asked questions and shared their own experiences of working with costumes in drama, dance and musical productions.
