On 26 September at 10:30 a.m. at the Faculty of Culture and Arts of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv a meeting was held – a public discussion with student set designers and teachers from art institutions as part of the Lviv Quadriennael of Scenography 2025.
The event was attended by students from leading art academies:
National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (NAOMA),
Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television named after I. K. Karpenko-Karyi,
Lviv National Academy of Arts,
I. Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film(Romanian: Universitatea Națională de Artă Teatrală și Cinematografică „I.L. Caragiale”)
Estonian Academy of Arts (Eesti Kunstiakadeemia)
The meeting was opened by Myroslav Tsyganyk and Oleh Oneshchak. In their welcoming remarks, they emphasised the importance of lively dialogue between students and practitioners of the contemporary scene, stressing that such events create a new space for creative exchange and professional growth.
The dean of the faculty thanked the student set designers for their interest and enthusiasm, and representatives of art academies and universities for their willingness to share their experience and support the younger generation of artists.
"It is a great honour for us to welcome representatives of leading art academies and universities to Lviv University today. This meeting is not just a public discussion, but a real space for the exchange of ideas that will shape the future of Ukrainian theatre and scenography. I am sincerely grateful to our students for their openness and curiosity, because you are the ones who will create a new artistic language for Ukraine. I hope that today's dialogue will inspire you to boldly seek and make responsible creative decisions," said Myroslava Tsyganik..
Among the participants were teachers – Maria Pogrebnyak (Karpenko-Karyi National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television, chief artist of the Kyiv Academic Theatre in Podil), Natalia Rudenko-Kraievska (Lviv National Academy of Arts and Ivan Franko National University of Lviv) and others, who gave the meeting depth and professional resonance.
The presentations by students from foreign universities were particularly valuable: they emphasised the importance of making new acquaintances, being open to the world and maintaining impartiality.
Artist at the Kyiv Puppet Theatre Maria Chornoskur shared her unique experience of creating puppets for performances – from the initial idea to the birth of a character that comes to life on stage.
