The exhibition "The Destruction of the Ideal" presents the set design and costumes by Matthias Engelmann (Austria) for Richard Wagner's opera "Lohengrin," which premiered on the theatre's main stage in 2019.

German opera style and form seem to transform onto the stage of the Lviv National Opera as a challenge, as discourse. The myth of Lohengrin the saviour becomes a fantasy, a dream for those whose thoughts are unengaged and free, despite the oppression of the society in which they live, or the society that restricts their rights and freedom of action," says Vasyl Vovkun, general director and artistic director of the theatre.

The event is organised as part of the Lviv Quadriennale of Scenography 2025.
