Exhibition "Ukrainian theatre costume of the XX - XXI centuries"

The exhibition featured original theatrical costume designs by the famous Vasyl Krychevskyi, one of the founders of Ukrainian art and the first Ukrainian professional theatre artists, as well as sketches by world-renowned artists Oleksandra Ekster, Anatol Petrytskyi, Vadym Meller, Oleksandr Khvostenko-Khvostov, Borys Kosarev and other representatives of the Ukrainian avant-garde.

 

Works by geniuses of the later period: Fеdor Nirod, Yevhen Lysyk, and Lyudmyla Semykina.

 

As well as the works of the most interesting and active contemporary Ukrainian artists working with theatrical costumes, including Andriy Oleksandrovych-Dochevsky, Liudmyla Nagorna, Natalia Rudyuk, Oleksandr Bilozub, Bohdan Polishchuk, Oleh Tatarynov, Yaroslav Nirod, Maria Levytska, Aliya Baitenova-Mezhenina.

 

The exhibition is based on exhibits from the collection of the Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema of Ukraine (Kyiv), curated by the chief curator of the museum, Tetiana Rudenko.

 

On the same day, a presentation of the publication "Ukrainian Theatre Costume of the XX - XXI Centuries. Sketches". This is an art album created in collaboration with the Scenography Gallery, the Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema of Ukraine, the National Art Museum of Ukraine and publisher Oleksandr Savchuk.

 

 

The book, in addition to 80 large-format colour illustrations, also contains texts by leading art historians, researchers of visual and theatrical art, Doctor of Art History Olha Lagutenko, PhD in Art History Liliya Voloshyna and Olena Kovalchuk.

On 9-10October, Tetiana Rudenko conducted curatorial tours of the exhibition Ukrainian Theatre Costume of the XX - XXI centuries.
