Biography

Education:

In 1996, Oleh Tatarynov graduated from the Taras Shevchenko State Art High School. Until 2002, he studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Faculty of Painting, Department of Scenography, workshop of Danylo Lider and Alla Kyrychenko.

In 2003, he became one of the first participants of the scholarship programme of the Minister of Culture of Poland ‘GaudePolonia’, PWST Krakow.

Teaching experience:

From 2010 to 2013, he was an assistant trainee at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, and since 2013 he has been a senior lecturer at the Department of Directing and Acting.

Since 1998, he has been working in Ukrainian theatres. Since 2005, he has been the chief artist and production designer of the Kyiv Academic Theatre for Young Audience on Lipki. Oleh Tatarynov is an artist of a wide range, immersing himself in the subtexts suggested by the playwright. The figurative component of his performances is worked out to the smallest detail. According to Ukrainian critics: ‘’Oleh Tatarуnov's work is characterised by an experimental approach to creating images. He is characterised by individual search, spontaneity, even unpredictability and at the same time respect for the theatrical traditions he inherited from his teacher, the famous theatre artist and teacher Danylo Lider.  Without avoiding sharp angles and conflicting themes, the productions he creates immerse the audience in themselves, unfolding a whole magical world before them.’
