Dainius Bendikas is a Lithuanian multidisciplinary artist, fashion and theatre costume designer, Doctor of Science and Associate Professor at the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
He is known for his sculptural, technically complex clothing designs.
During his 15-year career, Dainius has not only been a leading designer for various menswear brands, but has also exhibited and presented his creative work in Estonia, Latvia, Poland and Denmark. From 2010 to 2018, he lived in Iceland, where he worked as a lecturer at the Icelandic University of the Arts;
As part of the Lviv Quadriennale of Scenography 2025 a solo exhibition of Dainius Bendikas will be held in the gallery of the Art Centre "Dzyga" , where the artist will present original costumes created for the dystopian play Miegantys (Sleepers), directed by Oskaras Korsunovas, scenic design by Gintaras Makarevičius, based on the play by Marius Ivankevičius.
These futuristic costumes, created from latex, industrial mesh, fluorescent silicone, transparent plastic, and other expressive materials, can be perceived as self-sufficient art objects.
The artist combines analogue crafts - knitting, draping, embroidery - as well as the use of sculptural materials and technologies with digital 3D visualisation and engineering. He explores the possibilities of clothing functioning as a meditative and emotionally resonant structure.
In both his academic and artistic practice, Bendikas brings design to the forefront as a tool for emotional healing, ecological connection and speculative storytelling. He positions fashion design not only as a functional or aesthetic expression, but also as a vehicle for experience and contemplative transformation.
