We are starting the new year with active work. As always, we are open to communication, partnerships and constructive suggestions.
Today, we are pleased to announce that the Scenography Gallery will organise and present the Ukrainian Student Pavilion at one of the two main exhibitions of the international Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design 2027.
āAbsence and silence as spaces of potential for a new scenographic futureā ā this theme will be the conceptual guideline for the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2027.
Over the next year, the Scenography Gallery will work on preparing the Ukrainian Student Pavilion, involving three curators: Oleh Tatarynov, Maria Pohrebniak, and Olena Polishchuk.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with:
⢠the Department of Stage Design and Multimedia of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture,
⢠the Department of Puppet Theatre Arts of the I. K. Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television.
We aim to create a single pavilion that will bring together set design students from both educational institutions and represent Ukraine with dignity on the international stage. The Prague Quadrennial will explore the theme of Absence and Silence ā not as emptiness, but as a space of potential: as a form of historical and artistic reflection, or an aesthetic and dramaturgical tool, and as a testing ground for thinking about new scenographic possibilities. Special attention will be paid to what has not yet been seen or heard ā perhaps because it usually takes place outside the realm of attention, behind the scenes or outside traditional canons, centres and textbooks. The theme highlights scenographic moments, methods and projects that work with absence and silence or centre them in their approach, directing attention, shaping rhythm and spatial dynamics, engaging the body and deepening meaning.
Most importantly, absence and silence can create opportunities to imagine what is still emerging or yet to come, carving out space for a future that we have yet to shape," says Barbora PržĆgodovĆ”, art director of PQ 2027.
We have a lot of work ahead of us, and you have a lot of news and interesting things to look forward to! So follow our page and websiteš
