On 12 February 1895, Anatol Petrytskyi was born - an innovative, avant-garde artist, one of the founders of Ukrainian scenography. Open to artistic and technical innovations, the artist developed his own unique artistic style and made a real revolution in the organisation of stage space and the design of theatrical costumes. Almost every international or Ukrainian exhibition dedicated to the Ukrainian avant-garde includes works by Anatol Petrytskyi.

During the project "Ukrainian Theatre Costume of the XX-XXI Centuries: Identity, Context, Landscape", which we implemented in 2024, we digitised Anatol Petrytskyi's works from the collection of the Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema of Ukraine. In particular, two original dresses for the characters of Donna Sol and Donna Anna from Lesya Ukrainka's play The Fireplace Master at the First State Shevchenko Theatre (directed by Oleksandr Zagarov, 1921). They were also exhibited atthe exhibition of the project at the Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema of Ukraine.
