Starting today, we are accepting applications for participation in the exhibition of photography as part of the Lviv Quadriennale of Scenography 2025!
The theme of the exhibition: COSTUME ON STAGE, BEHIND THE SCENES AND IN THE LENS.
Since the Quadriennale focuses on the visual component of theatre, we have chosen the costume as the main object in the photographer's frame for the exhibition.
A costume is an image created by an artist, which is not only an integral part of the image, a character that is brought to life on stage by an actor, but also the direct work of the artist and the theatre's workshops, even a self-sufficient art object.
We are also interested in different understandings of theatrical costume, because it can be tailored clothes or its complete absence. But in any case, it should be an expressive artistic decision.
Who can apply:
Photographers who work with theatres or have interesting projects related to the performing arts.
The exhibition opens on 26 September and runs until 5 October.
The application deadline is 10 September.
We expect each photographer to submit one series of 4-6 images. In total, 60 photographs will be presented at the exhibition .
We are waiting for a series of photos that may have different concepts:
a selection of different expressive and interesting images from one or different performances, in which the focus is not on the actor's portrait, but on the presentation of the whole image/costume;
life backstage and the process of creating a costume from sketching, sewing, fitting, dressing and make-up to the actor's appearance on stage in the costume;
how the costume affects the actor, a selection of comparisons of how the actor works in rehearsal without a costume and how he changes on stage in full costume;
You can also propose your concept for a series that deals with theatrical costume as an object of recording or research.
You can submit photos from performances that are important to your theatre and that have premiered in the previous 4 years.
