Already 26–28 September will take place Lviv Quadriennale of Scenography 2025, and we are happy to share with you the programme of main events.

Lviv Quadriennale of Scenography 2025

26 September


🕥 10:30 – 11:30 – Meeting and public discussion with student set designers

Participants include representatives from leading art academies and universities:

  • National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (NAOMA),

  • Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television named after I. K. Karpenko-Karyi,

  • Lviv National Academy of Arts,

  • I. Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film(Romanian: Universitatea Națională de Artă Teatrală și Cinematografică „I.L. Caragiale”)

  • Estonian Academy of Arts (Eesti Kunstiakadeemia)

🕑 14:00 – 16:30 – "Set designer's workshop for children"

🕛 12:00 – 13:30 – Master class on theatre lighting by Svitlana Zmeyeva

Location: Les Kurbas Academic Theatre (Stage), 3 Les Kurbas Street


🕛 12:00  – Opening of the exhibition "THE DESTRUCTION OF THE IDEAL"

Exhibition of stage design and costumes by Matthias Engelmann (Austria) for Richard Wagner's opera "Lohengrin"

Location: Experimental stage "Lviv Opera: Painter", 6a Kulisha Street


🕐 13:00 – 14:00 – Presentation of a special issue of the theatre studies journal Proscenium

This issue is dedicated to the art of scenography.

Presentation of the exhibition "Scenographer" dedicated to the work of artist Myron Kiprian

Location: Maria Zankovetska National Drama Theatre (Foyer), 1 Lesya Ukrainka Street


🕓 16:00 – Performance by the art association "Hvylya" (Wave). Opening of the international exhibition  Lviv Quadriennale of Scenography 2025.

A point changes space

Exhibition of Ukrainian and foreign artists, set designers and theatre costume designers

Location: Zenyk Art Gallery (third floor), 7 Shota Rustaveli Street


🕖 19:00 – Opening of the personal exhibition by Dainius Bendikas (Lithuania)

Exhibition of costumes for the play "The Sleepers" by the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre. Director — Oskaras Korsunovas, based on the play by Marius Ivaškevičius

Location: Art Centre Gallery "Dzyga", 35 Virmenska Street


  27 September

 

🕙 10:00 – 12:00; 🕞 15:30 – 16:30  – Autumn School of the National Union of Theatre Artists of Ukraine

School Curator: artist Natalia Rydvanetska

School theme: historical costume, its stylisation and interpretation; costume as a component of scenography (Participants selected through open call)

Location: Les Kurbas Academic Theatre (rehearsal hall), 3 Les Kurbas Street


🕐 13:00 – 15:00 – Public discussion with Ukrainian and foreign participants of the Quadriennale

Keynote speakers:

  • Jürgen Münzer (Austria), artist

  • Birutė Ukrainate (Lithuania), artist

  • Auksė Kapočytė (Lithuania), Deputy Director of the Lithuanian Theatre, Music and Cinema Museum

  • Photography exhibition "Theatre costumes on stage, behind the scenes and through the lens"

  • Exhibition of works and installations by set designers and theatre costume designers

  • Exhibition of student works

🕖 19:00 – Performance of the play "Friend"

Director Oleg Oneshchak, composer Maria Verbyana, set designer: Oleksandra Nahirna.
